Dog training that empowers you

When your dog looks up they'll see that you're the one leading them through life

Building their confidence through overcoming challenge

Giving fulfilling freedom with responsible structure

Creating trust in a meaningful relationship

That's what our coaching is all about.

Meaningful, personal, and understanding.

The reality is that many of our clients had been trying their best but were making little progress

Most of our clients had already worked with another trainer, or have been following the best advice they can find online.  Most of our clients had been working hard to train their dog for months, sometimes years, and for little improvement for them or their dog. All of our clients cared about their dogs more than themselves, and wanted real transformation before it got too much.

Luna 2.jpg

Emotionally astute and physically indestructable, when it came to chasing other dogs Luna wouldn't take no for an answer (no mater what was being offered). After trying everything that had been recommended, her dedicated guardians came to us for personalised coaching that could actually make a difference.

LUNA (Staffie) - Bannockburn

When you came to K9 Contact, what issues/goals did you have with your dog?

The main goal we had was to get Luna to the point where she would come back first time, everytime. Most importantly while playing with other dogs.

How would you describe the change in your dogs behaviour?

It's as if we have a new dog! When we first came to Aaron, Luna was a nightmare when it came to other dogs. She was so hyper-fixated on playing with the dogs that she wouldn't listen to a word we said. However, after 6 sessions with Aaron, she listened first time! We have gone from having stressful walks to having the best walks ever 😃

What about your experience with us most stood out to you?

Aaron takes the time to explain everything in as much or as little detail as you want. He's willing to train your dog anyway you would like - as he says, "there are lots of different ways to train a dog, it's about finding the right one for you and your dog!"

If we could have continued to do something more, or done differently, what would that be?

Couldn't have done anything else!

We offer in-person dog training to demanding dogs across Central Scotland, with most of our Coaching Sessions taking place in Stirling.

Your dog comes first

Most pet services aren't designed for demanding dogs, leaving them and their guardians without proper support to turn to. We know, because that's the situation we found ourselves in.

With a lifetime spent caring for and training active dogs, I created K9 Contact to be a judgement-free space designed for your dog. Quality training that doesn't just work, but makes sense.

Lead Training Coach

The pride flag
  • What commitment should I expect?
This programme typically takes 4-6 weeks to complete. We encourage you to complete the programme within 10 weeks. This limit exists largely for your dog's benefit, so that there cannot be an extended period of stagnant practice. You are expected to attend 1 Coaching Session each week. We ask that these sessins are booked in advance, even if just provisionally, to maximise the chance of you having the session times that suit you best. These can be booked and managed on your client portal, which is created during onboarding.
  • My dog is reactive
Not a problem - we can even look at their reactivity as the focus of the programme. The Foundational Skills Programme is the shortest we offer, and will give you the knowledge and skills to reduce (and often completely transform) your dog's reactive behaviour. We'll disucss your dog's reactivity during your consultation, so you can be confident that we'll find your the right solution.
  • My dog has a bite history
Not to worry, we can discuss this at your consultation and find you a solution that works. For some dogs who have nipped or bitten on accident, the Foundational Skills Programme will likely be appropriate. For dogs showing more intense or purposful aggressive behaviour, you may find that the more intensive Demanding Dog Programme is better suited. Again, we can discuss all of this during your consultation. If your dog is legitimatly trying to bite people, then we can disucss this at your consultation. If we feel that we are appropriate for your dog, we will likely offer a package specific to this.
  • Is there a level of ability my dog (or I) need to have?
Any level of ability, dog or person, (including no ability at all) is welcome. We will give you every single skill, resource, and peice of information you need to succeed. Because for us dogs come before all other buisness needs, we are more than happy to direct you to other resources that may be helpful as well. If you are quite skilled already, and maybe you have a particular style, we can adjust our coaching to suit your preferred approach.
  • Can you help my reactive dog?
Yes, we welcome all demanding dogs that may be struggling with behavioural issues. Most dog's reactivity improves with regular, quality training. If we feel your dog requires a more serious programme, or a referral to another professional, we'll recommend this to you.
  • How do I get started?
It all starts with applying for a your free, no-obligation consultation. We'll discuss you and your dog's history, current situation, and goals. And if we feel that we're the right fit for each other, then we can get you signed up and onboarded right then and there. Show up for sessions, work through your training plan, complete your log-book as you go, and see progress through consistent training designed for you. Any questions?
  • What training methods do you use?
Rather than subscribing to a particular method, we bring a broad range of proven skills that are appropriate for you and your dog. We'll show you exactly how to build meaningful motivation and clear communication, so that your dog can enjoy lifelong freedom through reliable structure and responsible behaviour.
  • We've tried dog training before
Most of our clients have had another trainer before. We are set apart from many of these trainers by putting your dog's specific needs first (rather than a particular approach). If you have spent months getting nowhere, or finding yourself confused by previous experiences, it is very likely you'll immediatly notice a big difference with us.
  • Are sessions flexible?
Yes, you're able to book and manage sessions through your client portal at any time. Where programmes have completion windows there is still flexibility built in (and consideration for exceptional circumstances/disability). Our cancellation policy gives as much time as we can afford, and we'll always recommend the service that best suits you and your dog.
